If You Cannot Lose Weight, Could These Be the Causes?

So you know that you need to cut down at mealtime and get up and move about to lose weight. Not only do you know it, you've been doing it for long enough. Why is it that you cannot lose weight, or perhaps are even putting some on? Is it possible that there is a health condition you are suffering from that could be the cause of your troubles? Sometimes, a general checkup at the doctor's doesn't really catch any of these health conditions. They are reasonably subtle ones. Let's look at a couple of health conditions that make things so that you cannot lose weight.
Do you know that a thyroid gland that's a bit slow off the blocks, can be make you fatter? That's right, the gland that's responsible for the way your body uses its store of energy makes it more difficult for you to burn fat if it is slow. It's called hypothyroidism, and one out of ten people out there has it. So how exactly do you get to know that you have this? Certainly, you put on weight and you find that you cannot lose weight. But you'll also notice that you lose a lot of hair, that you have dry skin, tiredness, hair loss weakness, unnaturally heavy periods, a little depression and even have a tough time handling the cold. In short, you just feel off your game all the time. All you need to do is to get yourself checked with a TSH screening. The higher your test levels show up to be, the slower your thyroid gland is. If your doctor finds that your thyroid gland and is indeed acting up, he'll give you a drug like Synthroid to speed things up glandwise.
There are other hormones that can make it so that you find he cannot lose weight, too. It's called polycystic ovary syndrome, and one out of ten women have this condition in which their ovaries produce too much testosterone (yes, women have that too). At worst, testosterone gets in the way of a women's monthly ovulation and can even make her infertile. But it can also contribute to weight gain. The body is no longer able to process sugar properly when there is polycystic ovary syndrome, and you begin to grow substantial love handles. This can actually lead to diabetes one day. How do you know you have to this? You do if you have too much facial and body hair, if you have irregular periods, if you are balding like a man, and of course, if you're putting on weight. You doctor will ask you to switch to a healthy diet, exercise a lot to cut down on carbs and sugar. If it doesn't help, you'll be prescribed a drug called Merformin.
As you can see, you can't really blame all your weight-loss troubles to your genes. Sometimes, these things have a cure.
